  • Hi! My daughter made an appointment to renew her US passport for the first time as an adult yesterday for May 24 at 7:30am. When she submitted the appointment form it went back to the appointment page. Will an e-mail be sent for the confirmation page or it should automatically print the page? She was not able to get any printout. Please guide us on how will we able to print the appointment page. Could you also check if her appointment went through? Please advice. We should appreciate your prompt reply.

  • @Chattie Santiago

    Hi Chattie,

Please call or email the American Citizen Services section to check on the status of your appointment. You can email ACS at ACSInfoManila@State.gov or call them at 63-2-301-2000 ext. 2555/2532 between 2 pm and 4 pm.

    I hope that helps.

  • @Karina Lagrosa

    Hi Karina,

U.S. law requires the signature of both parents when applying for a passport unless one of the parents is deceased, there is sole legal custody order, or there are exigent circumstances. If you have specific questions about your case, please contact American via email or phone. You can email ACS at ACSInfoManila@State.gov or call them at 63-2-301-2000 ext. 2555/2532 between 2 pm and 4 pm.

Below is a link to the Department of State travel website which provides guidance on applying for a minor child's passport. I hope this helps.

  • Hi USEM,

I have a questions. How many weeks is the processing of renewal of US passport before I receive it?, How many weeks is the processing for EXPEDITE passport?

    Thanks so much.

  • @Karina Lagrosa,

    Hi Karina,

Once a passport application is approved at the Embassy, it generally takes 3-4 weeks until the new passport is received by the applicant. It is not possible to expedite issuance of a regular U.S. passport overseas as you would if you applied in the U.S. because all regular passports are now printed in Washington, D.C.

If there is an emergency, it is possible to apply for an emergency passport which are created at the Embassy. An emergency passport is good for up to 1 year (the validity is usually the minimum necessary to allow the applicant to travel to their destination and have time to replace the emergency passport with a regular passport). Emergency passports may be exchanged for a regular passport without paying additional fees if the regular application occurs within 1 year of the emergency passport issuance. Emergency passports are only issued in cases of emergency. The definition of emergency depends on many circumstances. To see if your situation qualifies as an emergency, please contact American Citizen Services via email at ACSInfoManila@State.gov.

I hope that helps answer your question.

  • hi, i just want to inquire if my 15 year old son could sign his us passport? or do i or his mom need to sign his us passport for him as we are travelling soon? he will be turning 16 years old this year. thanks.

  • Hi Marlon,

A 16 year old applicant can sign their own application. A 15 year old cannot and will need the signature of both parents (or one parent if there is a court order granting sole custody or one of the two parents is deceased). The website below contains instructions for an under 16 passport renewal.

    We hope this helps.

  • Dear Precious Polite,

It is easy to empathize with your situation, however because of time differences, holidays and a host of other factors we cannot predict exactly how long the process to renew a passport will take. That is why we say that it generally takes 3-4 weeks until the new passport is received by the applicant. It is not possible to expedite issuance of a regular U.S. passport overseas as you would if you applied in the U.S. because all regular passports are now printed in Washington, D.C.

You should make copies of all your visas and stamps that are currently valid before submitting your passport for renewal. We hope everything works out for you.
