  • Hello Sir,

I gave my non-immigrant H1-B visa interview on 1st Nov 2012 at US consulate Mumbai. My application ID AA002O0LJ1

After the interview visa officer returned back my passport and handed me a yellow page which mentions

" Your visa application is pending administrative processing. To check status of pending cases, please visit http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/refused-or-pending-visa.html. If your CEAC barcode number is on one of the lists, please submit your passport, courier envelope and the pending letter to the nearest Document Drop-off Location"

When I emailed support-india@ustraveldocs.com they asked me to wait 60 days. I've been waiting since 2 months now.

Can you please answer following questions?

    1. Is there a way to find out the time-frame for administrative processing?

    2. What is the reason my application was under administrative processing inspite USCIS approving my H1B petition?

    3. Also could you please provide any updates on this case as 60 days have been passed from the day of interview?

Please let me know what are the next steps I should take.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Aditya Mane

  • Good evening sir,

I had given my B1 B2 visa interview on 25th Oct,2012 at the US Consulate, Mumbai. The consulate general issued me a yellow 221(g) slip. My CEAC Barcode number appeared on the pdf on 8th November,2012 and till date i have not received any further instructions from the consulate. I emailed support-india@ustraveldocs.com and they asked me to wait for 60 days. Its been 3 months and still i have not received any mail from the consular general. Please help sir. My application no is AA002LW13L. Thanks

    ABBAS.

  • Dear Abbas,

Thanks for using the Visa tab! Per the guidance on our website, when the administrative processing on your application is completed, you will see your CEAC barcode in the report below.

    http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/case-status.html

It is up to applicants to check the status of their pending case. If your barcode has already appeared on the website, you should re-submit your passport and 221g handout to the nearest VFS offsite location as soon as possible so that the Consulate can issue the visa.

    Thank you,

    Consular Officer

  • Dear Consular Officer,

My fiancee had her immigrant K-1 visa interview at U.S. Consulate in Mumbai on December 28, 2012. After the interview, she was issued a 221g letter for missing PCC. She was told to submit her PCC and her Passport at the nearest VFS office. She submitted her PCC and her Passport on December 31, 2012 at VFS ahmedabad and was told it should take two weeks to process her visa. It has been 3 weeks now since she submitted her documents and we have not heard anything from Mumbai Consulate regarding her visa.

I am requesting you Sir/Madam to provide us with some information about our case. Every time I check the status it has "Under Administrive processing" and nothing else. I would be greatly appreciate if i get to know how long it will take to process her visa.

    Case Number is BMB2012819028

    Thanks You

    Falgun Patel

  • Dear Abbas Ali,

We are unable to discuss your specific case on the Facebook tab. Please follow the instructions provided on our website at the link above to submit your passport if your barcode appears in the report.

    Sincerely,

    Consular Officer

  • Dear Falgun Patel,

Thank you for your interest in your fiance's case. We regret to say that we cannot estimate a time when administrative processing will conclude. We try to complete all administrative processing for 221g cases within 60 days from when we receive all required documentation. We understand how frustrating the delays can be and empathize with how difficult this process is for some applicants. Rest assured we are doing what we can to ensure that your visa application is processed in a timely fashion.

    Sincerely,

    Consular Officer

  • Thank you for reply. I do have one question, has the Mumbai Consulate received our documents?

    Thank you

    Falgun Patel

I had appeared for interview on 23rd January 2013 in Mumbai Consulate along with my father Mr. Binod Agarwal (Passport No.- H5264541) on medical grounds for treatment of his Cancer at MSKCC.

My father was immediately granted a visa. However, visa officer told me my visa is pending as per section 224(G) as my passport appeared damaged and requested me to submit new passport and as soon as I do that I will get my visa. In urgent need of situation I managed to arrange a fresh passport on 24th January and submitted it to OFC Mumbai on 25th January by 11:00 AM

As i checked my status today, it says that passport is still with US Consulate post.

Sir, This is an medical emergency and my father needs immediate medical attention in New York hospital. Please advice if there is any way my passport can be processed faster as I am scheduled to fly tomorrow and doctor's appointment is on 30th January 2013. My father is dependent on me and he will not be able to manage this on his own.

I hope you understand this situation and advice as soon as possible.

  • Hi Amarjit,

We cannot provide case status updates in a public forum. Please continue to monitor this website: http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/refused-or-pending-visa.html. When your barcode number appears in the case status report, that means processing can resume on your application, and you can submit your passport following the procedures noted at www.ustraveldocs.com/in. In general, administrative processing takes at least 60 days to conclude, but there is no definite time frame when such cases will be complete.

    Sincerely,

    Consular Officer

  • Thanks for the update sir..

  • You are most welcome.

  • Dear Counsular Officer,

I had my H1B Interview on 5th March 2013. Interview went fine, but the officer returned me my passport and gave Yellow slip. The officer said that the Passport is peeling so we couldn't stamp a visa on it and requested me to submit a new passport at the Document drop-off location.

In the Yellow slip additional documents required to be submitted at the Document drop-off location is only New Passport. I submitted the new passport on 8th.

    I have following questions :-

    (1) How should I track my application, using old passport no. or the new passport no. ?

    (2) How many does approximately does it take for such processing to complete?

  • Dear Sir,

This is in reference to my visa application that has been kept pending under221g (Yellow Slip) no further documents asked. My Passport No is G4159236.

I applied for a visitor’s visa in the B1/B2 category & gave my non-immigrant visa interview on 21st Feb 2013 at US consulate Mumbai. My application ID is AA002W9VKX; after the interview visa officer returned back my passport and handed me a yellow page which mentions" Your visa application is pending for administrative processing. To check status of pending cases, please visit http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/refused-or-pending-visa.html. If your CEAC barcode number is on one of the lists, please submit your passport, courier envelope and the pending letter to the nearest Document Drop-off Location.

I am very grateful to the consulate to have considered my case and have not refused me the Visa but instead, have kept my case pending for the administrative processing which I certainly agree is important from your end.

I have requested the US consulate to kindly grant me the Visa to visit the USA temporarily only because I have a court case with my X-husband for the custody of my daughter aged 3.10 years, who is a US citizen.

I had a court case previously on the 4th March 2013’ but, very fortunately I have got an extension on the court date to 28th March 2013’. It is very important for me to be present before the court date in the court; so that I can gather a few evidences which can be favourable to my case and make it stronger. My attorney is unable to do much since only one of the parties is available and she doesn’t have enough references to fight the case.

I have all the necessary documents to prove the court case as well as the upcoming date for the same. I earnestly request the US consulate to please consider my case and grant me the permission to travel to the USA before the court date and oblige.

I have never had the intention to stay illegal in the USA in the past and hence, I had decided to return to my home country despite of being cheated by my X-husband who also is a US citizen.

I promise to return to my home country no sooner I am done with my court case, even this time. I really feel so helpless with my situation hence, I earnestly request you to please oblige by granting me the authority to travel to the USA and help a mother win her daughter.

When I emailed support-india@ustraveldocs.com they asked me to wait untill 60 days. Unfortunately I have been trying to explain to the support desk that I have a court case coming up on the 28th March 2013 and the court may not grant me another extension on the date.

Can you please answer the following questions and help?

    1. Is there a way to find out the time-frame for administrative processing?

    2. What is the reason my application was under administrative processing?

    3. Also could you please provide any updates on this case as I cannot wait until 60 days due to my court date.

Please let me know what are the next steps I should be taking?

    Thanks and Regards

  • Sir,

I have a confusion regarding my B1 Visa Application. I has appeared for the interview on 6th March 2013, and my case number is AA002Y4EPF.

My application was refused under section 221(g) during the interview and the consular officer, asked me to wait for a week's time, and asked me to submit my passport, when my case number appeared in the CSR, on your web site.

Accordingly, I kept tracking my case number on the web page mentioned in the yellow handout. My case number appeared in the CSR on 14th MArch 2012, and I submitted my passport at document drop off center in Pune on same day.

When I checked the status of my application in online application, (https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx), it still says my case is under "Administrative Processing". I guess it remains till you process my application completely.

Confusing point is when I used to check the CEAC status before submitting my passport, Status update Date was shown as 6th March 2013. and now when i check the same (after submitting the passport at document drop off location), it shows as 15th March 2013. My case number appeared in the CSR on 14th March 2013.

Does this mean my application is again kept pending under 221(g)? or is Administrative Processing completed? Please let me know.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Gopal Athani

  • Hi Gopal,

Administrative processing on your case is definitely complete, hence the appearance of your barcode in the CSR. The CEAC status checker does not reconcile perfectly with the CSR, unfortunately, but we are working on that. You should have your passport with issued visa shortly and will receive email and/or SMS notification when it is ready for pickup.

    Sincerely,

    Consular Officer

  • Sir,

Thanks you very much for the response and I appreciate it.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Gopal Athani
