I was on Romper Room once. I don't remember much except there was a giant bee and we had little ride around cars like Flinstone cars (we made them go with our feet), and also we made gingerbread cookies. Other than that, i don't remember anythiing else. I think I was 3 or 4.

Oh My Gosh! I was too! I think it was '59 or '60 - too funny. I have a photo somewhere. I'll have to find it. I remember there was a really cute little boy in our group...one of my first crushes! Boy that's digging way back in the 'old' archives of my brain. Very fun!

That magic mirror was creepy - I will never forget when I was watching the show and she said 'I see Babette' - I freaked out! It was magic because at that time I thought I was the only Babette in the world. Quite an emotional event. Then after that I got to go on the show. I thought I died and went to Heaven.

I remember hearing Miss June, when I was about 4 years old ... Romper, bomper, stomper boo, tell me, tell me, tell me do, have all my kids had fun at play? I see, Mary Ann and Bobby ... Don't be paint touchers. Miss June somehow found out that my brother and I got into some dark blue paint and we painted the back wall of our house. I was mortified! She knew! I don't think I ever touched my dad's things again ... at least until I realized my mother called the station and told them about it. LOL!!

Gosh, Mary Ann, I thought she was making that stuff up!!! I was on too and still have the pic around here somewhere. What a great parental control.

I used to love Captain Kangaroo. He came to Tpa to open the new St. Jo children's wing. So I took my two year old (22 yrs ago) and she was NOT impressed. I tried to tell him how I watched him and my kids watched him and guess what? He was a grouchy old man... but I got my pic taken with him anyway.

Totally loved that 'lil milk truck.

I was never on Romper Room, but was on the Uncle Bruce Show.

I also remember Candid Camera coming to Dale Mabry Elementary, putting individual kids in rooms with the prayer they'd do something goofy. I was one of the kids, but must not have been goofy enough.

@joanne Martino I think all those "old" kids show icons were a little off. That's why we shouldn't meet them and ruin our innocence or should I call it ignorance. Ignorance is bliss! What great shows though! Romper Room and Candid Camera ... I miss the simpler times, don't you?

Hi Mary Ann, YES I miss the innocence and the values and the belief that the Captain and the President were good guys... The Captain really was a great Character... I guess he had the right to be cranky after travel and costuming and he probably was an old man by the time I met him :-)) I do enjoy the old Laugh-In's too. These days if you don't have access to a teeny bopper or a twenty-something year old, its hard to understand the lingo!!

Miss June retired from WFLA in 1980. I worked in their accounting department while I was in college studying Mass Media. They asked me to audition to be her "replacement." HA! I really didn't like little kids back then...The job went to Miss Alice until they canceled the show in 1981.
