Xperia X10 Mini Pro WIFI Problem!!!

1 2 3
  • I just bought X10 Mini Pro two days ago and I noticed that it's quite difficult to connect via Wifi, sometimes it works sometimes not (more not working), I search this on the internet and found that many people have the same Issues.

They already tried different setting, even disable the wifi sleep mode when screen turns off but still no success.

Please give me a way to fix it, are there any special setting or maybe wifi app to solve this annoying problem?

Ok, hope I can find the best solution here

  • Hi Rizky,

    I'm sorry to hear.

First of all, to make sure this is not a software defect, you should repair the software with PC Companion.

    http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/pccompanion/xperiax10minipro?cc=gb&lc=en

Connect the phone, start PC Companion, click on Support Zone and follow the the on-screen instructions.

When this is done and you have started your phone, connect to your WiFi the first thing you do. Also, try with several networks if this is possible.

Please let me know if this helped.

  • Thx Markus & SE , I'll try it

  • Ive had similar problems on my 2 week old x10 mini pro and no user suggestions or software repair helped to keep my wifi from dropping. Is there any kind of official fix for this? I am on 2.1 update 1 firmware. I understand that there was an upgrade on the 1.6 android version that fixed this but it is back on the new version.

  • I have the same problem, help please!

  • Hello Markus, if I do that will I lost my data and applications? I found that If I configure my static IP Address it connects wifi better, the problem is do I have to change the IP address DNS etc if I connect to another public WiFi? How do I know the setting? Is there any apps for that? Im really rookie on networking things. Thx

  • Hi Rizky,

If you do a repair, normally, nothing should be deleted. However, if the repair feature finds a issue that only can be repaired by re-installing the software, your phone memory can get wiped.

I suggest you backup all data in the phone memory just to be sure.

Go to m.sonyericsson.com/backup (with the phone browser) to download the latest version of the Backup & Restore app.

Content on the memory stick and on the SIM-card will not be affected.

The phone does not have any such settings for proxy or IP address so any such setting would have to be done in the router settings.

  • i have the same problem too. so do i need to go to the nearest service center to fix the problem? or should i done it myself? thanks

  • I have to say repair and reinstall didnt do a thing for me ^^

  • hey you need to install the android 2.1 versions to stop this from happening

  • I already installed it after I bought it, On the other forum some people said on donut 1.6 first version this bug was exist, then there are software upgrade to fix it (still on 1.6) but it show up again on 2.1. I'll backup my data first then do PC Companion setting above.

  • i have had no problems with mine yet

  • OMG!!!!! It seems that I already have solution for these problem!!!!

    Here's the step:

    - First you have too root your phone, I use Z4Root, it's very easy and safe.

    - Just install the app, your phone will reastart then it will also install superuser (like administrator on PC) so you can modify the root data on system.

    - Install the "root explorer" it's an app like explorer to browse the system

    - using Root Explorer, go to: data/misc/wifi and delete the "wpa_supplicant.conf" (I suggest you backup it first)

    - restart your wifi

I got these information from here:

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832948&highlight=wifi

You can try to find the z4root and rootexplorer on the internet, or android forum. I forgot the link :D

Now the only cons left for my Mini Pro is only the battery lives, hope I find a way to make it stays longer.

  • i updated my x10 mini pro to 2.1 adroid yesterday coz i thought it will be better... however, after i successfully updated it (following all of the steps carefully) i am having problems now with the wifi and 3G network. my phone says it is connected with the internet but I cannot log in with my gmail and facebook account and worst of all is that i am having problems with the android market, sometimes i can't enter the market even though i have very good internet signal and it takes ages to download stuff, most of the time the download is paused.

how do i fix this problem?

  • @Jen Barretto

For Gprs/3g setting maybe u need to create it manually, search about your Operator/Carrier gprs setting from internet, then go to :

    Setting/Wireless & network/Mobile Networks/Acces Point Names/

click option button (left button with four squares symbol) choose new APN, fill with the APN data you've searched.

For wifi setting I got the same problem too, but you can try my solution on my previous post above.

    Hope it helps

  • I have updated my X10 mini to 2.1 a week ago i have found today that it cannot detect any wifi network. so please tell me how would i fix this?

  • will it work on the older version?

  • @ Denis Rajkumar :

Go to Wifi Setting click option button (left button) advanced/Wifi Sleep Policy/ choose Never. the back once turn on your wi-fi and check network notification. You should see wifi list in your range below that option. Mine can detect wifi but find it difficult to connect properly. You can try my method on my previous post for deeper setting configuration.

  • Rizky - thanks for the heads up! however, i tried the repair button in the repair suite then it was working better than ever :)

  • I can't seem to find root explorer in the android market though..

  • Hello all, I just figure out that my solution above is not permanent. I dont know sometimes it still just cannot connect. I think it depends on the wifi router settings too. I find it harder to connect on my office wifi than my home. But this problem seems come from the android OS itself, similar problem found on other brands.

    But this solution might help:

    - Turn your wifi setting to "Never Sleep"

    - Find app on your market called "blade wifi fixer" and install it

    - Root your phone using Z4Root, install root explorer and delete the "wpa_supplicant.conf" located on data/misc/wifi. I think it's the list of wifi setting history you've ever used, some people said that this way is working.

    - Some sugesstion say that you need to click "IP static address" and fill the details, you can use app like "static ip/wifi" (I forget the name) to set the different IP address on different hotspot automaticly.

@Kassandra, maybe I can send the file you need. Just leave your email here.

  • Can anyone help me?

I rooted my x10 mini pro some weeks ago and tried to save apps to SD card. After that, I realized that I could no longer use certain applications like the android market and the various applications that I downloaded from the market. So I tried to restore to factory default and after the restoration, I can no longer use 3g, wifi and bluetooth as I used to earlier. I cannot connect to the internet.

Can someone please help me solve this problem, because it gives me headeache. Thank you

  • @ Sela Zee:

Try to unroot then do software update with "SEUS" (SE Update Service) but you'll lose all your apps, contacts, anything.

  • Thank u very much, I updated yesterday and everything is now working. But how can I save my applications to my sdcard instead of the phone's memory?

  • Thanks rizky

  • @Sela Zee : Dont know, I heard there's an app called App2SD or something but never tried it, but Froyo 2.2 have that feature, maybe you can push SE to working on Froyo update hehehehe

  • hey rizky I have install many many application on my phone and my phone memory is getin low can the application be move to memory card is it possible?

  • The answer is right above your post :)

  • hey yo rizky how do i get to fix my x10i am getting the same prob, unable to scan for networks, this started after an upgrade to 2.1 android, can u help?

  • @Lyrix: So it seems the eclair bug's. I dont have the big X10 but maybe you can read one of the solution above. Try sugestion from SE first (second post) if it's not work try mine:

-Go to Wifi Setting click option button (left button) advanced/Wifi Sleep Policy/ choose Never.

    - Find app on your market called "blade wifi fixer" and install it

After this step u need to try connect it on different hot spot, if the problem still exist continue to the next step:

    - Root your phone using Z4Root, install root explorer and delete the "wpa_supplicant.conf" located on data/misc/wifi. I think it's the list of wifi setting history you've ever used, some people said that this way is working.

    - Some sugesstion say that you need to click "IP static address" and fill the details, you can use app like "static ip/wifi" (I forget the name) to set the different IP address on different hotspot automaticly.

    Hope it helps.
