  • Hi Daniel,

We're sorry to hear this. Let's start with the following:

Please try removing the SIM card from the phone and connect the phone to charger. Once the red light appears, disconnect the phone from the charger 2 or 3 times, then connect it once more and charge the phone for about 30 minutes, after which time, you will press and hold Power button+volume up at the same time for 5 seconds. Let us know how it goes from there.

  • Hi Annie,

thanks for ur advice. It don't solve the problem but helps to find out whats wrong. as it turns out the Xperia side connector is broken. if i pull the charging plug halfway out the Xperia charges. i have to send it to the service. well... no big deal. my first broken sony mobile in 10 years. but i cant life without my smartphone for +2 weeks. i ordered a Xperia Z yesterday. :D

    thank you anyway

  • Glad to hear that the problem is partly resolved Daniel. I know what you mean about being away from your phone, can't live without mine either. Congratulations on your Xperia™ Z! Don't forget to drop us some feedback on our wall once you get it. :)

  • Success story. Please excuse any spelling mistakes

Disclaimer I havn't notice any damage or loss of data, However I take no responsibilty for any damage or loss of data that may occur.

My girlfriend has a xperia T and did let it go flat, since then it didnt appear to charge or switched on.

I had tried alsorts suggested on verious websites such as plugging charger in and out a few times, leaving in charger for 24 hr, plugging into laptop, and trying to power up with power button and volume up. red light sometimes lighting up or flashing but not staying lit.

After playing around with all of the above methods, I noticed if I kept my finger on power while plugging into the charger or laptop the red led stayed on until i let go. So i tied an elastic band around the phone on the power button, then I plugged in the charger, unplugging it, plugging in again with volume up pressed until I had the red led lit. Not sure of which combination I did but just when the led was lit(not flashing). I left it for a few hours while it was plugged in with the elastic band keeping pressure on the power button. Came back to it and found the phone on and battery at 100%.

Hope this helps some of you

  • Yes! Thank you MD. I couldn't get a charge light at all. I just tried holding the power down while plugging it in and it vibrated and came to life. It's gone back to sleep again now but the charge light is finally on so fingers crossed. :)

  • MD,

Fantastic, mine is having this problem of now turning ON several times, forcing me to bring the phone to phone repair shop... always costing me money just to revive the phone.

I followed your advice by pressing power button and then plugging/removing the charger and then instantly i felt vibration then the phone turns on... I hope more people could read your post.

    thanks a lot ^_^

  • I'm really fed up with this phone, I have a Sony Xperia T, it won't charge or start up for me 5 months ago, went through the process described by Sony on FB, its doing the same thing again, this time, I tried previous steps, it's still not charging or turning on.

Can someone please get intouch to help get my phone working again.

    HELP PLEASE!

  • me too

  • Debola Sakinah - Buy yourself a new Xperia T battery and replace it. If you dont feel confident ask someone with some Electronic experiance

  • Then don't ever put it in a car charger again, apparently that's what damages the battery. This is what happened to mine and after doing a bit of research i soon realized people were experiencing the same problem. - I would say it a common fault and Sony should fix it like they do with the Xperia Z when the screen cracks.

  • Hello. I'm having the same problem with my xperia T, in fact it's the 2nd time. The 1st one I was able to fix it by holding the ON button and waiting for about 1 hour. But know it doesn't work. It turns on after 10 minutes (not like the first time that it took one hour because was charging) and doesn't charge at all. It goes to the screen where I need to add the password, but it automatically turns off because battery is 0. :(

  • Thanks guys, mine was showing that it was charging but stayed at 1% after reading this I took SIM out and restarted and now works . Thanks very much . Nicki

  • MD you are an angel!! Thank you!!!!

  • I tried what MD did and didn't work. Not sure if I did it the wrong way. Any way it was taken to the ASP, hopefully they will repair it.

  • Thanks Sony/Annie, having the same problem, 1st time, took your advise and problem solved - charging away. Thank you again
