  • Hello

My 4 month year old xperia play has a fuzzy screen like a static tv. How can I fix this, I have heard it is a common issue.

  • how do i fix it?

  • same problem mate?

  • yeah haha any idea how to fix it man?

  • Nope. Broken, send it back to Sony Ericcson. Piece of crap!

It is a hardware issue, not software. I can only use my phone when it is slid out in game mode!

Supposedly it is a common fault, that Sony are aware of, but still released the phone!

  • My Xperia Play is fine, i've had it for longer than 4 months D:

  • Just wait... You will start to get static and then bang, bye bye xperia .

  • Well i have a protective case and screen protector so hope not, my phone still looks brand new. Best not! >;(

If your phone has "wear and tear" that isn't your fault from dropping it or that, send it to Sony Ericsson, They'll fix it for free? However might take ages to get it back

  • yeah my phone provider is going to fix it.

I have case and protector, haven't dropped it, always look after it and still have this problem.

  • Well i suppose the plus side is if you havent dropped it, getting it fixed for free is a bonus, just takes forever to get it back if you get it fixed from Sony, anyone else usually is quite quick.

  • yeah but it is only 4 months old, it shouldnt break. :(

  • Stupid question probably, tried changing theme's? Still same problem? Or water been on the phone?

  • yeah tried evertthing.

  • Yeah it shouldn't! Umm, i can't think of many reason's why you'd get a fuzzy screen, sliding the PS part of the phone out to hard?

  • Hi

From what you've described it does sound as though it's a flex cable problem, strange not heard anything like this before on the Play.

If anyone does get this problem we can get the device looked at under the terms of the warranty. Contact your local support who'll get it booked in!

  • I am having the same exact issue. Verizon is telling me that they will replace it, but if it happens again after a few months I won't be happy. I shouldn't have to replace my phone every few months and reload everything...

  • Weird, hasn't happened to me. . . Better not either lol

  • Yes it sucks.

Roy. it may not happen to you!

  • Hey sony. Why don't you respond.

  • Christopher,

  • Pfft. Never had an problems with my iPhone. You shouldnt sell poorly made phones. It seems to be a common problem. I now have a 4 month old piece of plastic. You should replace it. It shouldnt have to be repaired after 4 months.

    JOKE

  • While I agree that the phone shouldn't have this kind of issue after 4 months, I would have to say it's probably not happening in a majority of the phones.

Question for you Johnny, is this something that you're seeing come up more frequently? I'm a little concerned that if I get my phone replaced I will just have the same issue come up with a new device. I love my Xperia Play and I use it constantly for gaming, but if this is a recurring design flaw I'd rather go with another device until a permanent fix or the Play 2 is released...

  • It seems to be a real common issue.

Will we get compensated for the time we are without a phone when it is being repaired?

Of course not. We are suckers lol

  • i got the same problem aswell, its fucked. should have got the arc instead

  • same thing has just happened to me only had the phone about 4 months piece of crap why do sony ericsson phones always have problems. carphone warehouse is fixing mine prob take ages till get it back tho

  • yeah common issue.

Hey Sony. Why release the phone when it is a common problem?

  • Just to be clear, we are of course not releasing products that we know are not working. That's just bad business for all parties involved. The phones comes with a warranty and if the phone breaks down during this period (due to poor manufacturing) the costs are on us + we get a bad reputation. So no gain in doing so.

What you can do yourself when a phone starts to behave strange or is not working is to repair the software (always worth a shot regardless of the issue).

    www.sonyericsson.com/pccompanion.

In the program you click on Support Zone > Update > Start > Repair. After this you simply follow the given on-screen instructions. Do not connect the phone until you're told to.

If this can't be done or won't fix the problem we need to fix it at a service centre. Your dealer will help you with sending it to an authorized one. Make sure to bring the receipt so you can claim the warranty.

  • a REAL LET DOWN by Sony mobile.

Being a sony tv/ ps3/ sony tablet and sony laptop owner I purchased my xperia play over a year ago with high hopes to replace my hand held playstaion and moblie phone. Prior to that I used a HTC and Iphone. The Htc and Iphone I used extensively over years and had no issues. I still have them as back up phones or to lend.

I am experiencing the same fuzzy screen issue with the xperia play. So frustrating not being able to access the apps/games I paid for and now rely on for work and personal use. The factory reset and connecting it to pc companion was a waste of time (an hour at least). I did not expect this to happen to a sony product. Its now out of warranty and so i will be using it as a door wedge. Thank goodness for reliable phone like HTC and Iphone.
