Crock Pot Cracked

  • I made a meatloaf in my Rival crock pot yesterday. I lined the crock pot with aluminum foil and cooked on low for 5 hours at which time I made the sauce in a pan on the stove and then poured the hot tomato sauce over the meatloaf and cooked for another 2 hours. The meatloaf turned out wonderful. This was the first time that I ever used aluminum foil in the crock pot. After the crock pot was cooled, I started to fill the crockpot with hot water to clean. My crock pot completely fell part. It crack and the whole bottom fell out of it. It is 16 years old and I have used it a lot. What could have caused this to happen? Did the aluminum foil have anything to do with this? Thanks for any information.

  • Barbara, Sorry this has taken so long to answer. This is bizarre...not sure why it happened. Foil is not the culprit. We use foil all the time. I'm wondering if there was a hairline crack that you did not know about and it just gave way. Sorry you lost your crock of 16 years...that's a bummer.
